About Project Monitoring Office (PMO) Division

The Project Monitoring Office Division (PMO) is divided into 4 units, namely:-

1) Promotion Unit

2) Policy Coordination and SkillsMalaysia Invite Unit

3) Skills Competition Unit

4) Information Management Unit

 

Functions of Units under TheProject Monitoring Office (PMO) Division

1) Promotion Unit

This Unit comprises skills training promotion and skills competition in line with SkillsMalaysia branding as announced by Dato ' Sri MohdNajib bin Tun Abdul Razak on 11 January 2011 as one of the 19 entry point projects (EPP) in the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP). This Unit serves as the driving force to the skills promotional programme aimed at enhancing skills toincreaseawareness and create opportunities forSPM leavers to chooseskills training programmes as their main optionin career determination.

Functions of the Promotion Unit are as follows: 

Promotional activities

a) Manage and operate the Promotion and Carnival Committee at the agency level and internally.

b) Manage and coordinate the implementation of SkillsMalaysiaCarnival / Department involvement in trade fairs by invitation from foreign agencies.

c) Manage, coordinate and formulate implementation strategies for media promotion programmes involving the print and electronic media

d) Manage,operate and monitor the implementation of promotions through social networks (Facebook, Youtube and Twitter) and the SkillsMalaysia website

2) Skils Malaysia Invite and Policy Coordination Unit 

The International Accreditation Unit is the unit responsible for accreditationactivities for international accredited centres, international student registration, regulation of international programmes and promotion abroad and international strategic relations. The establishment of this unit is in line with the Cabinet decision of 2nd December 2005, which approved the Proposal to Develop Skills Training Programmes Accreditedby JPK at the InternationalLevel.

Functions of the International Accreditation Unit are as follows:

 

a. Accreditation of InternationalCredited Centres

  • Management of programme accreditation applicationsof International Accredited Centres
  • Draftsuitable international programmes.
  • Conductcertification verification visits.
  • Manage the letter of support for certified centres to obtain approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN).

 

b.    International Student Registration

  • Review and recommend applications for pre-registrationforeign students by the accreditedcentre.
  • Coordinate the Technical Committee meeting forpre-registration of foreign students.
  • Manage letters of support to the immigration and KDN
  • Coordinate the registration and evaluation of skills of foreign students.
  • Manage the registration process, certification and completion of foreign students.
  • Provide skills training programme statistics of foreign students

c.    International ProgrammeRegulation

  • Regulate activities ata PB based on the guidelines and regulationscurrently in force.
  • Quality control of a PB in line with the Enforcement of the Code of Practice for Skills Programme Accreditation (KAPPK)
  • Have joint coordination meetings with Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies.
  • Convene a joint coordination meeting with PB.
  • Ensure that foreign students train as planned and approved by the JPK

d.    Overseas Promotion and International Strategic Relations

  • Design and implementation of promotional and publicity programmes abroad.
  • Preparation of publicity and promotional materials
  • Coordinate promotional activities of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) agency and PB
  • Deal with issues and manage bilateral cooperation with other countries.

3) Skills Competition Unit

Functions of the Skills Competition Unit are as follows:

a) Manage and coordinate Malaysian Skills Competition Council;

b) Organise and coordinate Malaysian Skills Competition (PKM) jointly with KKR;

c) Organise and coordinate MySkills Competitions;

d) Manage training and participation in the ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC);

e) Manage the participation of Malaysia to the World Skills Competition (WSC); and

f) Coordinate other relevant skills competitions.

 4) Information Management Unit

The main role of the Information Management Unit is now not just limited to aspects of management, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the existing online systems, but is also responsible for developing and updating the JPK website, technical operations control and important for ensuring that the entire service delivery system of JPK is implemented efficiently and systematically. The roles and responsibilities of theInformation Management Unit will be expanded in accordance with the implementation and use of the MalaysianSkillsCredit System (SKMM) officially to all stakeholdersof JPK.
