What is meant by the PPT method? |
|
|
A method to recognize any individual who can demonstrate competencies outlined in the National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS) based on prior experience and achievements. |

Why do I have to apply for PPT |
|
|
PPT can:
- Give formal recognition to the competence of the individuals;
- Provide extensive job opportunities to individuals, and
- develop individuals’ career in industrial work.

Who is qualified to apply for PPT |
|
|
Open to individuals with competencies gained through work experience, life experience or training (formal or informal). |

What preparations do I need to make before applying for SKM through PPT? |
|
|
You need to
- Identify areas and levels you wish to apply for with reference to the latest NOSS register.
- Obtain information about PPT application guidelines.

What is the difference between the NOSS register and NOSS? |
|
|
The NOSS register is a list of all NOSS in five (5) main sectors (manufacturing, agriculture, service, transportation and mining), while NOSS is a document that outlines the competencies that should be possessed by an employee in a field of employment and the path to achieve these skills. |

How may I obtain NOSS? |
|
|
NOSS may be obtained at the JPK office at Putrajaya and Cyberjaya or by mail application. Each NOSS CD costs RM20.00 and paid for by Money Order / Bank Draft / Purchase Order (LO), payable to ‘Ketua Pengarah Pembangunan Kemahiran’. |

What should I do if the skills I have do not fulfill part of the NOSS requirements? |
|
|
Applicants must meet the skills requirements as specified in NOSS:
- Through training in PB-PPT- the guide is available on the JPK website at www.dsd.gov.my; or
- Gather up enough experience.

How do I apply for SKM through the PPT method? |
|
|
The applicants must:
- Print and complete the PPT registration form which may be obtained through the website (www.dsd.gov.my) or at any JPK office.
- Send the completed form together with the payment and required supporting documents to JPK Cyberjaya by post or by hand.

What is the application fee for SKM through the PPT method? |
|
|
- The rate of payment is RM 300/level and payable in the form of Money Order / Bank Draft / Purchase Order (LO), to the "Ketua Pengarah Pembangunan Kemahiran'.
- Receipts will be sent to the applicant after registration together with the "Notice of Registration and Assignment".

How would I know if my application has been received? |
|
|
- The JPK will issue a “Notice of Registration and Assignment” together with a receipt to the successful candidate.
- The application form together with the payment will be returned to the candidate whose application has been rejected.

Why was my application rejected? |
|
|
- Incomplete application form; or
- The applicant does not meet eligibility requirements to apply for PPT.
|
|

What should I do after I have received the “Notice of Registration and Assignment”? |
|
|
Candidates should contact the PP to set the date for the counseling and evaluation sessions.
*Candidates are encouraged to collect proof of the skills they possess before the counseling and evaluation sessions. |

What is the allowed duration for portfolio development? |
|
|
- 2 months - SKM 1/2/3
- 5 months - DKM/DLKM (including project development/previously experienced cases)
* The duration that has been set is the "Evaluation Period" as in "Notice of Registration and Assignment” |

Who are the personnel involved in deciding the quality of the PPT certification? |
|
|
- Candidate;
- Evaluation Officer (PP-PPT);
- External Verification Officer(PPL-PPT);
- JPK Monitoring Officer(for VTO/DKM/DLKM)

15. |
|
Can I apply for a change for the assigned PP-PPT? |
|
|
NOT ALLOWED.
JPK will consider this application if the candidate has reasonable grounds for it and the application is submitted to the JPK in writing. |

May I apply for an extension period for the counseling and evaluation sessions? |
|
|
NOT ALLOWED.
JPK will consider this application if the candidate has reasonable grounds for it and the application is submitted to the JPK in writing. |

17. |
|
What do I do once I have completed the counseling and evaluation processes? |
|
|
- PP-PPT will contact the PPT Unit, JPK to apply for a verification session.
- Candidates must be prepared to be verified by PPL-PPT who will be appointed.
- The verification results will be known at the end of the verification session.
* Attendance at the verification sessions is mandatory for PP-PPT and PPL-PPT candidates. |

What do I do once I have completed verification? |
|
|
- PPL will send the certificate issuance form to JPK and the certificate will be sent directly to the candidates/ agencies that manage the candidates’ applications.
- Candidates should submit the certificate received feedback form.

Who are qualified to apply for Special Recognition through PPT? |
|
|
Those who are eligible to apply are of two types:
- Personnel who have provided expertise services and made excellent contributions to JPK activities specifically, and to the country in general. They are divided into three categories:
- Category 1 : Personnel Involved in JPK Activities
- Category 2 : Skills Competitions Personnel at the National and International Level
- Category 3 : ATM Personnel who have a ATM Trade Certificate
- Calon yang telah memiliki Diploma yang dikeluarkan oleh Institut Teknikal Jepun Malaysia (JMTI) ATAU Pusat Latihan Pengajar Dan Kemahiran Lanjutan(CIAST) di bawah Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran.

How may I apply for Special PPT? |
|
|
Candidates must submit an application to the Malaysian Occupational Skills Qualification (MOSQ) Division, JPK in the form of a folio containing the following documents:
- Personnel who have provided expertise services and made excellent contributions to JPK activities :
- DKM.DLKM/SKM Application Form through Special Recognition [JPK/PPT/1008(P3)] Refer to Appendix B which is complete.
- A copy of the applicant’s identity card certified by the Department Head/Employer.
- A payment of RM300 for each level in the form of Money Order / Bank Draft / Purchase Order (LO), and payable to the "DIRECTOR GENERAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT” (valid for a period of three (3) months from the date the application is received).
- 'Curriculum Vitae' (CV).
- Copy of Certificate/ Degree/ Diploma/Letter of Appreciation certified by the Department Head/Employer.
- Proof for Application (Involvement in JPK activities/ATM Trade Certificate where applicable).
- Candidates who have a Diploma issued by the Japan Malaysia Technical Institute (JMTI) OR Centre for Instructors and Advanced Skills Training (CIAST) under the Human Resource Department (JTM).
- e-SPKM online registration on http://espkm.nvtc.gov.my web site Candidates must meet the set requirements before applying.
- Print accompanying letter of application approval for reference. Manual applications will not be processed and will be returned to the applicant.
- A payment of RM300 for each level in the form of Money Order / Bank Draft / Purchase Order (LO), and payable to the "Director General Skills Development” (valid for a period of three (3) months from the date the application is received).
- Submit a copy of the applicant’s identity card and the relevant Diploma certified by the Department Head/Employer.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Applications that do not comply with any of the specified requirements, will be rejected and the fee will not be refunded.
