Reminder On Enforcement Of Advertising In Accordance To The National Skills Development Act 2006 (Act 652) To Accredited Centres And SLDN Training Centres

With reference to the above.

2. Please be informed that JPK is implementing the enforcement of advertising in accordance to the National Skills Development Act 2006 (ACT 652). In compliance with ACT 652, section 53 and 54, any skills training provider may only advertise accredited centres and accredited programmes once its accreditation has been APPROVED by the Director General of Skills Development.

3. Accordingly, accredited centres or training centres are required to apply and obtain official approval from the department before printing and issuing any advertisements for promotional purposes. Applications must be made before or on 30 Jan 2015 and includes the advertisement design.

4. If an accredited centre / training centre violates this act and once convicted, can be fined a sum not exceeding two hundred thousand Ringgit or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or both

Additional Information On Accredited Centre (Ac) Rated Excellent In Evaluated Programmes (With ”5 Star”) For Exemption From Verification Visits

1. DSD is in favour for approving an exemption to the AC who has achieved EXCELLENT rating (with ”5 star”) for the types of application as followed;

  1. Application for renewal of accreditation;
  2. Accreditation of additional programmes at higher levels ;
  3. Accreditation of additional programmes due to NOSS review.

2. Therefore , the eligible AC may submit an application for the exemption of the  accreditation verification visit to the JPK by completing (JPK/T/KAPPK/01)  form as per attachment 1.

3. If the AC fail to submit the application, the visit will be carried out as usual.

4. The exemption enforcement effectively by 1 September 2014.

PPL Ethics

Verification visit which has been approved and issued a letter of assignment cannot be amended without permission by the Department of Skill Development (DSD); this includes date and time of visits, name and number of trainers. Centre or External Verifier failing to comply with this regulation will result, trainee certification to be revoked or External Verifier claims to be cancelled.

In this regard the following are External Verifier ethics that should be noted by all Verifier so that verification visits can be implemented in line with the needs of the department.
