KUALA LUMPUR: The government will provide an additional cash incentive of RM100,000 to any Malaysian participant who wins a gold medal in the World Skills Competition 2017 this October, bringing the total amount to RM140,000.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi when announcing this today, said the additional incentive was aimed as a motivation for the participants to excel in the prestigious biennial competition, also known as the Skills Olympics.

This is my promise. Any participant who wins gold (in the competition) will receive a top-up of RM100,000 from the government.Even if one gets five (gold medals), better still, as the government is prepared to sponsor the award,Ahmad Zahid said when launching the Road to Abu Dhabi 2017 Gold programme, here.The existing government incentive to a gold medallist in the WSC is RM40,000.- Bernama
