[Malaysian Digest] BPTV, Industry Players Collaborate To Produce Skilled Students

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Ministry of Education through the Technical and Vocational Education Division (BPTV) is collaborating with various industry players to enhance the knowledge and skills of students to meet the requirements set by the industry.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the initiative was signed today between deputy directorgeneral of Education (Education Operations Sector) Aminudin Adam and 11 representatives of the agencies involved.
"This collaboration is a proactive step by the government to produce highly skilled students who meet the needs of the industry," Aminudin told reporters after the signing ceremony here.
He said the MoU would enable students to undergo technical and vocational education and training (TVET) through the National Dual Training System (SLDN) Apprenticeship Mode programme, where 20 to 30 per cent would be carried out in vocational colleges while 70 to 80 per cent in private companies for two years.
The students would undergo industrial training between four months and a year in various fields including culinary arts; tourism; business management and accounting; teacher and student skills training; construction technology as well as information technology, he said.He added that the student would also have the potential to be hired by the agencies involved.—BERNAMA
